This blog post takes you on an adventure of the top 6 bars in Laramie to be at during happy hour. The bars were ranked by myself personally, along with a friend of mine, Marty Thoman, a UW alumni that is very picky when it comes to food and bars. We went to each and every bar in Laramie (except a few we knew wouldn’t make the cut) and sat down and took notes. We ranked the bars overall vibe, cost, location, food, drinks and function during the typical happy hour times from 3 to 8 pm. Some bars were docked for their price, wile some were docked for being too crammed. This post is tailored to anyone that enjoys cheap drinks and good times. This blog is for people that like to be laid back while they drink, if you are looking for a big party scene, then this blog post isn’t for you and you should just stick to the buck. Hopefully you enjoy this read, and check out a few of the bars on the list.
# 6 Born in a Barn

Born in the bar makes the list because of its
$2 off of single well drinks, and $3 off of double well drinks, as well as their unique and tasty food options. The bar does not get a spot higher than 6 due to the size and atmosphere of the bar. The bar is more of a restaurant, with not much room to mingle or hang out. There is nothing unique about the bar, and the crowed is mediocre at best. I’d suggest to go to this bar during happy hour if you are going on a date, or if you are catching up with an old friend. My friend Marty says that he loves the food, and the people not so much.

# 5 The crowbar

The Saloon with the best Pizza in town, and a giant portrait of Bill Murray from the movie “The Life Aquatic”.
Me and Marty love the atmosphere of the bar, the bar titled Crowbar has both crow decor as well as crowbar decor, which I really enjoy the irony. This is another location that is best suited for small groups of people or date nights. Their happy hour is $1 off any drink, which is really a mediocre deal. This classy western style bar ranks 5th due to their amazing food and the over all feel of the bar.
# 4 3rd street bar

This place is poppin! They have the best deals in town, being buy one drink, get one half off, not to mention that their drinks are stiff! Tho the bar has the best deals and the biggest crowd, they are ranked 4th due to it being too crowded and the feel of the bar is just kind of generic in my opinion. I would have ranked #3rd street even lower, but Marty loves this place, and claims that its the best place for mingling with good people in town, we settled at 4th place due to the size if the bar, making it sometimes to hectic.

#3 Front Street Tavern

This bar has the same happy hour deal as crowbar that ranked 5th, but this bar beats crowbar due to the overall environment. This place is a very comfortable bar to hang our at, and the bartenders are super nice and laid back. The drinks are also super stiff, and the tavern just has a cool western feel to it. Legend has it that the tavern was a brothel back in the 20’s and 30’s, and the history shows in the interior of the bar. Marty says the the place is a little too hipster for him, though he does love the interior and thinks that if it were not for the crowd, he could place the bar at #1.

# 2 O’dwyers public house

This dive bar is the perfect regular bar, the people there are real and the food is amazing. the building in my opinion is one of the coolest in town, with the round doorways and the overall structure. the happy hour deals are 2 dollar pints of your choice of 20 different beers on tap. They always have amazing craft brews on tap, along with cheap food during happy hours as well. Marty ranked this place #1 saying “I feel like this bar isn’t trying to be anything that its not, good food, good people and its never too crowed or too dead, you know what to expect. The main reason why I decided that this bar fell short from number one is that is is so far away from downtown, making hoping to the next bar less convenient.

# 1 The Library sports bar and grill

Sitting at #1 is the library. This bar brews its own amazing beers, and has solid food. The library used to be in the location of O’dwyers at #2, and moved to a downtown location putting them at #1. The sports bar has a friendly atmosphere and a unique idea with a library decor around the bar. Upstairs you can play pool or Foosball, in an atmosphere that feels like home. Marty agrees that the bar is solid and has a little bit of everything, and the fact that they brew there own beer is enough to push them to #1.

I hope you enjoyed the list, and I hope you check out these great locations! I had a lot of fun during the research of this blog. The research just consisted of drinking and eating apps, but it was still a great time, and I am glad I have my go to bars on lock now.
